Split #10 — the solution

The three rounds from October 9, 2026: twelve numbers each, split into four groups of three that add to the target — the one way each round allows, with its decoys and where the reasoning starts.

Round 1 — target 30

The numbers: 16, 14, 8, 1, 20, 11, 2, 4, 9, 15, 17, 3. 3 decoys.

The groups: 16 + 11 + 3, 14 + 1 + 15, 8 + 20 + 2, 4 + 9 + 17.

The decoys — triples that add to 30 but are not in the answer: 1 + 20 + 9; 11 + 2 + 17; 11 + 4 + 15.

Where to start: 16, 14, 8 and 3 sit in only one on-target triple, so their groups are certain — start there.

Round 2 — target 28

The numbers: 12, 9, 7, 20, 10, 1, 14, 17, 3, 4, 13, 2. 5 decoys.

The groups: 12 + 3 + 13, 9 + 17 + 2, 7 + 20 + 1, 10 + 14 + 4.

The decoys — triples that add to 28 but are not in the answer: 12 + 9 + 7; 12 + 14 + 2; 7 + 17 + 4; 10 + 1 + 17; 1 + 14 + 13.

Where to start: 20 and 3 sit in only one on-target triple, so their groups are certain — start there.

Round 3 — target 34

The numbers: 5, 2, 18, 10, 6, 4, 19, 11, 15, 17, 13, 16. 7 decoys.

The groups: 5 + 13 + 16, 2 + 15 + 17, 18 + 10 + 6, 4 + 19 + 11.

The decoys — triples that add to 34 but are not in the answer: 5 + 18 + 11; 5 + 10 + 19; 2 + 19 + 13; 10 + 11 + 13; 6 + 11 + 17; 6 + 15 + 13; 4 + 17 + 13.

Where to start: 16 sits in only one on-target triple, so its group is certain — start there.
