Spectrum #54: Order these statues by height — the solution

The Spectrum puzzle from October 7, 2026: six things on one hidden scale, shortest to tallest, with every figure and where the checks were best spent.

The puzzle

Order these statues by height, shortest at the top and tallest at the bottom. The board opened in this order:

  1. Lincoln Memorial statue
  2. Statue of Liberty
  3. The Motherland Calls
  4. Christ the Redeemer
  5. Statue of Unity
  6. Michelangelo's David

Nothing was in its place; Michelangelo's David opened 5 places from home.

The walkthrough

The ends first. Michelangelo's David is the shortest of the six at 17 ft and Statue of Unity the tallest at 597 ft. Anchor those and the middle four are what is left to place.

Where the scale splits. The widest gap is between The Motherland Calls (279 ft) and Statue of Unity (597 ft) — 318 ft apart. Everything above that line belongs on the shortest side and everything below it on the tallest side, so sorting the six into those two groups is most of the puzzle.

The closest call. Michelangelo's David (17 ft) and Lincoln Memorial statue (19 ft) are only 2 ft apart — the pair that is a coin flip without the figures, and the place to spend a check: a check locks whatever is already right and leaves only the wrong tiles to swap.

The answer

#Shortest to TallestFigure
1Michelangelo's David17 ft
2Lincoln Memorial statue19 ft
3Christ the Redeemer98 ft
4Statue of Liberty151 ft
5The Motherland Calls279 ft
6Statue of Unity597 ft
