Any real word of a row’s letters counts, so the word in bold is only the one the Hint spells — the commonest. Each step below is read from that word to the next.
- APE. The three letters were dealt as E, A, P. PEA is accepted too.
- CAPE. Add C: C goes on the front of APE. PACE is accepted too.
- PLACE. Add L: the letters of CAPE have to move. CAPLE is accepted too.
- PALACE. Add A: A slots into PLACE, between P and L. No other word fits.
- CAPABLE. Add B: the letters of PALACE have to move. PACABLE is accepted too.
