Spectrum #57: Order these ended shows by episodes made — the solution

The Spectrum puzzle from October 10, 2026: six things on one hidden scale, fewest to most, with every figure and where the checks were best spent.

The puzzle

Order these ended shows by episodes made, fewest at the top and most at the bottom. The board opened in this order:

  1. Friends
  2. MASH
  3. Seinfeld
  4. Game of Thrones
  5. Breaking Bad
  6. The Wire

Nothing was in its place; The Wire opened 5 places from home.

The walkthrough

The ends first. The Wire is the fewest of the six at 60 episodes and MASH the most at 256 episodes. Anchor those and the middle four are what is left to place.

Where the scale splits. The widest gap is between Game of Thrones (73 episodes) and Seinfeld (180 episodes) — 107 episodes apart. Everything above that line belongs on the fewest side and everything below it on the most side, so sorting the six into those two groups is most of the puzzle.

The closest call. The Wire (60 episodes) and Breaking Bad (62 episodes) are only 2 episodes apart — the pair that is a coin flip without the figures, and the place to spend a check: a check locks whatever is already right and leaves only the wrong tiles to swap.

The answer

#Fewest to MostFigure
1The Wire60 episodes
2Breaking Bad62 episodes
3Game of Thrones73 episodes
4Seinfeld180 episodes
5Friends236 episodes
6MASH256 episodes
