Row by row
Any real word of a row’s letters counts, so the word in bold is only the one the Hint spells — the commonest. Each step below is read from that word to the next.
- SAT. The three letters were dealt as S, T, A. TAS is accepted too.
- LAST. Add L: the letters of SAT have to move. ALTS, LATS, SALT and SLAT are accepted too.
- LEAST. Add E: E slots into LAST, between L and A. LEATS, SALET, SETAL, SLATE, STALE, STEAL, STELA, TAELS, TALES, TEALS and TESLA are accepted too.
- CASTLE. Add C: the letters of LEAST have to move. CLEATS, ECLATS, LACETS and SCLATE are accepted too.
- ELASTIC. Add I: the letters of CASTLE have to move. ASTELIC, LACIEST, LATICES and SALICET are accepted too.
